Who We Are

Air Taxi is an air transportation service operating throughout the Solomon Islands, providing on-demand passenger transportation and freight services between Honiara, regional airports, and remote areas.

Founded in 2019, Air Taxi utilises the Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander, a British built light twin-engine aircraft, for all of its operations. The BN-2 Islander is a versatile light utility aircraft that was designed and developed by the British manufacturer Britten-Norman in the 1960s. It is a twin-engine, high-wing aircraft that can accommodate up to nine passengers and one pilot.

The BN-2 Islander has been used for a wide range of applications, including passenger and cargo transport, aerial surveillance, search and rescue operations, and military missions.

Its short takeoff and landing capabilities make it well-suited for use in remote and rugged environments, and it has been used extensively throughout island regions of the world.

The aircraft has a maximum speed of 173 miles per hour and a range of up to 900 nautical miles. It is powered by two Lycoming O-540 engines, which provide a total of 540 horsepower. The BN-2 Islander has a reputation for being reliable and easy to maintain, and it has earned a loyal following among pilots and operators around the world, making it the perfect aircraft for Air Taxi and its services throughout the Solomon Islands.
